What are the materials of plastic packaging boxes?

2025-04-26
  • PP (polypropylene): The material is relatively hard, has good stiffness, and has good heat resistance. It can be heated in a microwave oven, has strong chemical stability, and is resistant to acid, alkali, etc. Commonly used in food packaging boxes, such as fast food boxes, fruit packaging boxes, etc., and also used for packaging some daily necessities.

  • PET (polyester): It has excellent mechanical properties, high rigidity and hardness, excellent transparency, non-toxic and odorless, and good air tightness. Widely used in food packaging, such as cake boxes, chocolate boxes, candy boxes, etc., it is also used in packaging boxes for cosmetics, drugs, etc.

  • PS (Polystyrene): Lightweight in texture, good in rigidity, excellent in processing performance, easy to shape, and capable of producing packaging boxes in various shapes. But it has poor heat resistance and generally cannot be used in high-temperature environments. Commonly found in disposable tableware, small electronic product packaging boxes, toy packaging boxes, etc.

  • PVC (polyvinyl chloride): High transparency, flexibility can be adjusted by adding plasticizers, and good mechanical strength. It was once widely used in food packaging, cosmetics packaging, etc., but due to its potential release of harmful substances at high temperatures or during combustion, its application in the field of food packaging is gradually decreasing, and it is more commonly used in non food daily necessities packaging, such as stationery packaging boxes, gift packaging boxes, etc.

  • PE (polyethylene): Good flexibility, impact resistance, high chemical stability, and excellent moisture resistance. Commonly used for products that require flexible packaging, such as small food packaging bags, cosmetic sample packaging boxes, and some drug flexible packaging.

  • PC (polycarbonate): It has high transparency, high impact resistance, good heat resistance, high strength, and good dimensional stability. However, due to the possible release of bisphenol A, its application in the field of food packaging is limited, and it is more commonly used in packaging boxes for high-end electronic products, precision instruments, etc.

  • ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene): It has good comprehensive performance, high strength, hardness, and toughness, strong impact resistance, and is easy to print and decorate on the surface. Commonly used for packaging boxes with high requirements for appearance and strength, such as electronic products, toys, cosmetics, etc.
